About Us

Bear Country Cottons

After living in Texas for about sixteen years, my husband and I relocated to Northern Virginia in 2007.  In need of distraction after leaving our four grown children and four grandchildren behind in Texas, I decided to start selling quilting fabrics.  We lived very close to Shenandoah National Park and I would spend many hours hiking with our two yellow labs Lily and Meadow in the park and along the Appalachian Trail.  We would occasionally encounter black bears, hence the name Bear Country Cottons.  I initially sold fabric only on ebay but have now decided to build a website and encourage more visitors.  In 2011 we moved up here to Maryland and I have increased my fabric collection and plan to keep on growing.

My hobbies include reading, gardening, playing bridge, eating chocolate, hiking with the dogs, photography, bird watching, travelling and did I mention eating chocolate?
